Hello chasdave10,

I have located a picture and a little information about your Silver
Star recipient, but can find no biographical information. Can you tell
me a bit about Lt. Commander N. Burt Davis, such as where he was
born, where he lived, or where he lived when he retired? Any clues
would help!

Thank you,
crabcakes-ga

Ahoy again chasdave10,

I have plowed through the waves of military information online, and
while I found many sites that named Lt. Commander N. Burt Davis,
including one photo, there was scant biographical information.

Clicking on the link below will display a photo, taken in November of
1953, at the Change of Command at Pearl Harbor, on the USS Epperson
(DE-719).

Commander N. Burt Davis commanded the Epperson from Nov. 1953 - Nov.
1955

Davis won more than a Silver Star, he also won a Legion of Merit Award
and a Navy Marine Corps Medal:

Here are some of the military sites that include Davis' name
(occasionally spelling "Burt" as "Bert"), with no additional
information:

Lt. Commander N. "Bert" Davis, commanded MTB-RON 24, commissioned June

Other related information pertaining to Mindoro and the MTBRON-24 and
LSTs his MTB was attached to:

Very interesting narrative of events in Mindano, 1945. (Beware the
author is not politically correct, using some less than favorable,
(but commonly used in that era) terminology to describe the enemy.)

One of the LSTs Davis was attached to in Mindoro was LST-472, which
was sunk by the Japanese on Dec. 21, 1944.
For this it earned the Navy Unit Commendation and 6 battle stars.

chasdave10, I will be happy to investigate further if this answer does
not pass muster. Please supply me with any additional clues you may
have to enable me to find biographical information for you.

Farewell for now, crabcakes-ga
Reason this answer was rejected by chasdave10-ga:
I asked for a photo Lt. Cdr. N. Burt Davis, Jr. and biographical data.
I got a photo that did not even resember Lt. Cdr. N. Burt Davis, Jr.
and
no biographical information--date of birth, U. S. Navy career, date of
death, cause of death, if deceased. Nothing. Some information was
totally inaccurate. There is only one N. Burt Davis, Jr. I don't
want information about a Bert Davis. Cdr. N. Burt Davis was never CO
of an LST, but
I was told he was. Useless. I was given information two awards
beyond the
Silver Star from the same PT Boat Web site I accessed to confirm he
was awarded a Silver Star.
