Hello and thanks for your question You can open a bank account online at Chartered Bank in Nigeria < www.charteredbank.com/account_opening_form.htm > To transfer funds to that account via credit card, you'd need to take a cash advance against your card here in the US, and then have a US bank wire the funds into your Nigerian account. That done, if you wanted to send funds to an individual in Nigeria, you could simply send them a check drawn on your Nigerian account. CAUTION I hope you've not been drawn into the notorious Nigerian email scam. You can read about it at < home.rica.net/alphae/419coal/ > < www.embassy.org/embassies/ng.html > < www.oregonandwesternwa.bbb.org/release.html?value=73 > Thanks for using Google Answers ! |

The MUCH simpler way would be to use Citibank's c2it service, which allows you to transfer money to Nigeria for a nominal fee. Check out the service at www.c2it.com You open an account at the c2it, fund it for as much as you want to send (your funding options are credit card or bank account), and send it to Nigeria with a click. |

Since you mention Nigeria in your question, I just have to throw out this comment for your own safety. There is a very popular scam out there that involves sending out letters that look real. They say that you'll get a share of millions of dollars if you help these people through some legal red tape. It's a complete hoax, and you'll be robbed blind if you play along. Here are some links that describe the scam in detail. From the Iowa Attorney General http://www.state.ia.us/government/ag/consumer/press_releases/2001/nigeria_general_rel.html ABC News: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/world/DailyNews/nigeriafraud_000901.html Regards, Paco |

Greetings, misterben. Like atichri-ga, I would also suggest Citibank's c2it service at www.c2it.com. You should be aware that to transfer money to some countries (Nigeria is one of them), you must be transferring at least 250 USD. |

How about these for an alternative way of shifting cash? Goldmoney http://goldmoney.com/ e-gold http://www.e-gold.com/ The basic idea is that you shift ownership of gold held in Escrow. |

You can also use http://www.westernunion.com/ to transfer funds to an individual in any of 185 countries (including Nigeria). The recipient would need to provide indentification and the answer to a test question that you can create. This can all be done online with a credit card. I believe the fee is based on the amount transferred. |

This is reference to atichri-ga's suggestion. Never use www.c2it.com if you want to send money by a check. It has taken two weeks and still my money to India has not reached. The website is dumb! You'll never know what the status of your transaction is unless you call the 1-800 number. Once you've accepted the transaction, there's no way you can cancel it (online) except by calling the 1-800 number. |
