Where might I find an instruction manual for a three- or four-year-old
Sony STR-DE135 AM/FM receiver?

The manual is available from the Sony site, but I must say, they don't
make it that easy to find.

Head for this page:

and enter:

in the search box.

This should take you directly to a link for downloading the manual in
PDF format.

manual" until I stumbled across the site for downloading manuals.
