Google isn't indexing anything it can ever find, and I don't believe
it's intention is to ever do so.
The thing about google's image search is that it doesn't only index
images by the file name of the image, and cannot read the image as we
see it. Because of this indexing method I would assume that only
images within pages analyzed for the webpage-index are evaluated for
the image-search. If this is a correct assumption, you can find the
reason by searching on google for:
site:www.trollandtoad.com inurl:www.trollandtoad.com
If I understand your site structure correctly, there are well over
1560 pages available on your site, but only the mentioned number of
pages are indexed by google. The reason for this is mainly that Google
doesn't go that many level deep in the site structure for most sites.
So by my knowledge, one possible reason is that the pages which holds
the rest of the images are not indexed by google. Or it could just be
that the image-indexing bot, utilizes similiar rules to the main
webpage bot, and don't go that many levels deep.
As when it comes to getting more images (and pages) indexed, I can't
really see anything obvious that you can do to improve. It is
noticeable that you have though about search engine friendlyness
during the creation of this site. |
