If an incomplete name is entered in the address field in a browser the browser adds the .com TLD (Top Level Domain) by default. What is the way to customize MS-Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator browser to also try another TLD (e.g. .uk)? | |

Hi again strem94, You might be interested in the Internet Explorer Quicksearch tool provided by Microsoft. It is a freeware downloadable at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/previous/webaccess/ie5wa.asp (although it says it's only for IE 5.0, it also works for 6.0). I typically configure it so that I can search Google or various other sites by using the address bar, but you can set it up to auto-add the .co.uk suffix to your address, but you still have to type a specific keyword to tell the browser that is what you want. Here's an example how you would set it up: 1) Open QuickSearch and Click on New 2) Enter some keyword for the shortcut, for example, "uk" 3) Choose "Custom URL" for search 4) For URL, type in http://www.%s.co.uk After you close the program, if you need to go to a UK site (say Amazon.co.uk), you can do so by typing in the address bar "uk amazon" and the browser will automatically redirect you to http://www.amazon.co.uk Mozilla has an identical feature built into the browser. Let me know if this is the sort of program you're looking for and I can post it as an answer. secret901-ga |

The current version of the Opera browser has such a function built in. Go to Preferences --> Network --> Server Name Completion, and you can enter a list of the suffixes and prefixes you want the browser to try. |
