Do you have any clues as to who sang it, when the song was recorded,
where you heard the song, other lyrics, the style of song (for
example, blues), the instruments accompanying the singer, etc?
Anything you know about the song might be helpful in our research.

I found a group called Stackridge associated with a song titled "Three
Legged Table" (circa 1971) but I was unable to locate the lyrics.
Could this be the time frame in which you heard the song?

Best regards,
journalist-ga

My 90 year old father in law can't remember who sang this, having
asked me if I remembered these lyrics. I suspect that they are from a
Country/Western song, possibly from the 40's 0r 50's, but this is
purely a guess on my part. Sorry, no other information is available.
Thanks for your help.

Here is a link to a brief audio clip of "Three Legged Table," as
performed by Stackridge. The clip contains a few lyrics but no clue
whether or not the lines you cited are in this song.
