HI. My wife purchased a "Anne Marie Clements" handcrafted dough
statue in Greenwich, England just outside of London at the Greenwich
flea market a few years ago. Considering these statues are made
literally of dough, they are very fragile. Suffice to say, my wife
accidentally broke one of her favorite souvenirs and I'm looking to
replace it.

This statue is of a "cleaning lady" holding a mop. On the back, there
is a sticker that says, "Hand Crafted by ANNE MARIE CLEMENTS London."

If you look at http://users.adelphia.net/~vaxb/gari.html, you'll see a
picture of both the sticker and the statue.

My question is this:

Where can I purchase, via the net or mail order over the phone, with a
credit card, this particular statue? The place must be able to ship
overseas to the US.

I've searched google fairly extensively --- and I'm generally good at
finding obscure things. Europe has a tendency to be a little more
wired, and so I'd be real surprised that the maker doesn't have some
web presence, either their own, or perhaps selling through a reseller.

I've obviously searched for "anne marie clements", "Greenwich
markets", etc.

http://www.greenwich-market.co.uk/ is a dead end. I emailed them
looking for more info, and they weren't able to help. Looking at

http://www.greenwich-market.co.uk/products/dough.htm shows a similar
type of statues, but by a different sculpter.

http://www.craftmarketdirect.co.uk is also run by the same people, and
so was a dead end as well.

I've searched British Telecom's directory(www.bt.com) for both "Anne
Marie Clements" and "Clements" located in Greenwich. There are
multiple "A. Clements" residences and throughout London there are
probably hundreds. There is certainly no guarantee that the maker I'm
looking for even lives in Greenwich proper, or London proper.

Help!!

Thanks.

Hi mygannick,
This is certainly a challenge! I have searched numerous places in
the UK, including some auction sites, to no avail. I have left half a
dozen e-mails with artisans whose work is similar to Anne Marie
Clements. Should I get any responses, I will gladly let you know!
There are Google researchers who live in the UK, and perhaps they will
have better luck!
Good Luck, crabcakes-ga

Hi crabcakes,

Thanks for your help so far. I've searched high and low for this one.
I'm guessing you haven't heard back from those emails. I would agree
that someone with a local presence to the UK would probably do better.

Thanks again.

Hello myganick,

I'm in the UK but at a loss to know how to help. Anne Marie Clements
might be a small-scale, home-based operator, with no web site, no mail
order, no big outlets. I met a similar person at a craft fair once.
She simply moves around her region hiring stalls as and when. Apart
from that, she supplies one local craft shop with a few figures.

Hello again myganick,
Please forgive my delay... had it been good news, I would have
responded immediately however! I have heard ZIP from the folks to whom
I wrote. I often don't hear back from any inquiries I make for Google
Answers, but I always remain optimistic! Perhaps you could check
online auction sites (especially in the UK) on a regular basis.
