For many years I worked for the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission. Eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits depends not only on how much time you have worked, but upon the distribution of your earnings in relation to calendar quarters. It is possible that two applicants might have worked the same number of days and have been paid the same wages, yet one would be eligible, while the other would not be, depending upon exactly when the work was done. Like most states, Oklahoma's laws on this matter are rather complex. Keep in mind that anyone may *apply* for unemployment insurance benefits; you need not do the calculating in advance. It will be done for you by the system's computers when you file your initial claim. |
