I am looking for a cassette tape made in the late 1980's,
particularily around 1987-88 that was made for children and it sang
songs about animals. One certain title was "Hambone the Hamster". What
is the name of the cassette, who sings it and where can I buy it? I
need to get one. Thank you.

Hi Dawny,

Well, I can give you the title of the cassette and the name of the
singer. Unfortunately, I can't find a copy for sale.

Perhaps a copy will turn up on eBay at some point... Or perhaps you
could try to somehow get in touch with the author...

In any case, if you'd accept just the title & name of the singer, let
me know.

Hello.

The cassette was "My Pet Songs" (1988) by Wendy Flower.

Here's the catalog entry from the Library of Congress:
http://catalog.loc.gov/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?v3=1&DB=local&CMD=010a+99579276&CNT=10+records+per+page

I just spoke with Ms. Flower, and we had a good conversation. She
verified that "Hambone the Hamster" is indeed her song and "My Pet
Songs" is the cassette that you're seeking. She is a very nice
person, and she indicated that you could inquire about getting a copy
of "My Pet Songs" by sending an email to: romper@sbcglobal.net

She also mentioned that an album called "Genesis" that she and her
sister Bonnie did in the '60s was recently reissued. See the entry at
Amazon.com for more information:

A 1989 newspaper article in the San Francisco Chronicle discussed the
cassette.

I hope this helps.

Thank you oh so much for the research. I am so happy and this is
exactly what I needed and remembered it being. I appreciate your
efforts and time invested. Now I need to try and obtain the tape. Take
care and once again, thank you!
