Every word file I open containing any type of "object" doesn't
displays the object but only the code behind it:

{ title \* mergeformat };
{ author \* mergeformat };
{ page } of { numpages };
etc.

I have to manually right click each object and select "toggle field
code".
How can I make it work fine?

I am not sure which version of Microsoft Word you are using, but
check...

  Tools -> Options -> View
or
  Preferences -> View

and there should be an item labeled "Field Codes". If that is
selected, you will get the behavior you describe. Clear that item and
save the settings to display the value (and not the field code).

If that doesn't fix your problem - provide some additional information
about your set up so I can get you some step by step instructions.
