I am running XP Professional in a PC that I built. I have a standard CD-RW drive and an ASUS A7N8X motherboard. The CD_RW worked fine until I updated the BIOS to 1006 from the ASUS website. It is enabled and detected as fully functional by the system. It just does not register when a disc is inserted. I have deleted and reinstalled the drivers as well as verified all physical connections. Any ideas? | |

Try using a CD drive cleaner. Use the one without liquid. The lens might just be dirty. |
