I'm trying to find a song called "Romance for Violin and Orchestra in
D Minor". I heard it on PBS - and I believe it was composed by a
Wilhelm Gerdhard or a name similar to that. It was absolutely
beautiful and I'm dying to know more details. I've searched online
with the details I just typed in - and haven't found anything yet.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Here's the right title, plus the right first name. You can listen to
an audio clip of the piece. Do you think this was the song you heard?

"Peterson-Berger: Symphony no 2, etc /Jurowski, Norrkoping SO"

Not sure without hearing the rest of it. Is that the only thing that
lines up with the description I gave? I just remember it was
completely gorgeous.

That's the only piece I could find, even after searching for German
versions of that title.

Good enough for me then! :) I'll just grab the CD and see if I recognize it all. :)

Hello musiicman-ga,

Given your most recent clarification, I will post what I have found as
an answer.

After searching on Google for variations on "Romance for Violin and
Orchestra in D Minor" and "Romanzen für Violine und Orchester in
D-moll", the only piece that I found with a name like "Wilhelm"
associated with it is:

"Peterson-Berger: Symphony no 2, etc /Jurowski, Norrkoping SO"
Tower Records
http://www.towerrecords.com/product.aspx?pfid=1513412

I did not find any such piece with a name like "Gerdhard" associated
with it.
