In 1952, Dr. Madden received the American Medical Associations Ludwig
Hektoen gold medal for work illustrating blood vessels.
John L. Madden, M.D.
During his career, he developed techniques for use in a variety of
surgeries including colorectal procedures and mastectomies; an
innovator in the area of vascular surgery, he advanced the use of
grafting arteries to correct aortic aneurysms. In 1952, Dr. Madden
received the American Medical Associations Ludwig Hektoen gold medal
for work illustrating blood vessels.
