"Originally, the aircraft was called Concord (without an e) in the UK
and Concorde in France. However, after much wrangling, the French
spelling was eventually adopted on both sides of the channel.
The first prototype was rolled out in Toulouse on 11th December 1967."

"In 1972, a tour was launched in stages through the Middle and Far
East to Australia and back, in order to promote sales of the aircraft.
However, it was not until 1976 that trans-Atlantic flights to New York
began, which were to be the core of the service. Ultimately only 20
Concordes were built between 1966-80, and they were only sold to the
two state-run airlines, British Airways and Air France."

Since I knew that the Concorde was Anglo-French, and had her debut in
1967, and that she is retiring this year, my search strategy consisted
of a Google search to locate the exact date of the Concorde's official
introduction. I found that it was, indeed, December 11, 1967. Another
search determined that the Concorde had visited Australia in 1972.
