I need to do a small direct mail campaign to companies in Victoria,
Australia. I will be sending about 200-300 pieces and would like to
know where to get company contact details according to the following
criterea:
Number of employees > 50
The company must be a manufacturer
The company must also be an exporter
Other interesting sorting criterea would include:
Industry segment
Year of company incorporation
Contact name(s) particularly CEO or marketing manager
New product creators/desigers v's simply manufacturing capacity
suppliers |

Hi tbubb,
After an extensive search, the closest I could come to fitting your
criteria is a database which includes the following information:
Australian Supplies: When you click on a certain supply, a list of
companies in Australia appear, and the city the company is located in.
Clicking on the name of a company gives the following information
(when available):
Type of business
Established (year)
Sales (amount in US dollars)
Type of merchandise exported
Contact person (name)
Mailing address
To access the "Send Email" option to the companies, you must be a
registered member.
However, I cannot assess how many companies are located in Victoria
unless I go through each listing.
Let me know what you think about this.

Hi rainbow,
The db you suggust may be helpful. Only one way to know though. Post
the link and I'll check it out. Is it a free database? Australian
suppliers to the US market only?
I'm based in Victoria, so can give you a few test cases to run, to see
if the data is really valid. Try:
Machine Tools: ANCA
Packaging Machinery: TNA
Lighting Products: Bytecraft
Where I am at is that I can easily rent or buy mailing list items (eg:
from the INCNET database: http://www.prospectshop.com.au). However, it
will cost me a couple of thousand dollars for what I want to do. (FYI,
you can view the detailed Profile of the INCNET database at
http://www.incnet.com.au/docs/profile.pdf)
What I want to know, is can I get similar information from free
databases (or small with a small subscription)
Hope this helps
regards,
tbubb

Hi tbubb,
Not knowing the Australian market, I had no idea the database I
located was so incomprehensive until I tried the test cases you gave
me and no results came up. :(
The site I was hoping would work for you is Australia Trade Now
http://www.australiatradenow.com/
I'll keep looking for more databases and will let you know if I come
across anything else.

Hi Bobbie7,
IBIS is another source of commercial mailing list (like prospect shop)
and may be useful. I've sent an equiry off to them. Thanks for the
lead. What I'm really after though, is to know if there are industry
group, ABS or other public domain or inexpensive data-bases for
access. The IBIS data-base does not appear to let me sort by number of
employees (or revenue size). Also, being an exporter is an important
criterea for my search.
