I'm hoping to find a free or a subscription-based web site which
offers a large catalog of downloadable professional-quality sound
effects. Most of the sound effects online are recorded with a low
sample rate (8kHz or 11kHz). I'm looking for sound effects recorded at
22-44khz, very low hiss, etc. WAV format preferred, but not critical.
Mono/stereo not important.

Ideally, of course, a free site, but I'd be willing to consider a
subscription-based site (access to all sounds, not pay-per-download)
no higher than USD$20 per month.

Hi Bobbie7, nice to be working with you again. This IS a tougher one,
which is why I priced it a bit higher. None of the three you found are
what I'm after. I'm looking for essentially a large searchable
catalog, with a reasonable flat-rate subscription. These are either
small (and unsearchable) catalogs (i.e. 1000 or less sounds), or too
expensive. It may be an impossible find, but I'm hoping someone can
find the right place.

Dear Jhabley-ga,

I'll keep searching but I'm not very optimistic.

Perhaps another researcher will have better luck than I and will be
able to find exactly what you require.

Best regards,
Bobbie7

Hello there,

I'm afraid I'm a bit confused.

Can you clarify what's wrong with the Audiosparx site Bobbie7 found
at:

http://www.audiosparx.com/sa/default.cfm

They're searchable, subscription-based, under $20/month and have over
100,000 files. It seems perfect!

If we knew why it doesn't work for you, perhaps we could find you one
that does.

Anyone else?

Hi - just to clarify, the AudioSparx site has 100,000+ sound files,
but the vast majority seem to be music loops and music tracks. I'm
looking for specifically a large sound effects catalog.

Hi jhabley,

Have you tried Findsounds.com?

http://www.findsounds.com/

You can search for a sound effect and specify the file format,
channels, resolution and sample rate of sounds that you are looking
for.

And it's free.

Beth

Hi Beth, I'd been using findsounds.com until now and that's why I'd
like to switch. Though you can specify higer bit rates, they don't
have many in hi-res and even the ones that are sound awful or are cut
short. Mostly it seems to be a collection of bad sfx found elsewhere
on the web and assembled online.
