I am performing research on so-called "monster homes" and want to
understand their role in urban sprawl. I've been searching for a very
specific statistic that states how many workers are usually employed
by owners of "monster homes", i.e. maids, cooks, pool cleaners, etc.
The data will inevitably vary by location and size of home, so as long
as that information is included there aren't any geographic or size
limitations. |

Dear Marty Lee,
What an interesting topic!
However, I believe that to answer it well, your question will require
more time and effort than the average amount of time and effort
associated with this price. Here is a link to guidelines about pricing
your question, in the pricing guide:

If you both raise your price and also post a clarification here, the
system will notify me and I will take another look at your question.

There is no clear cut definition of what a "monster home" is, but it
generally refers to a home that is out of proportion with the
surrounding neighborhood in dimensions and style. It is a very
subjective idea because there presently are very few laws regulating
their construction. Some urban planners want to combat the building of
monster homes in certain areas by stating that the amount of traffic
generated by these homes is much greater than "normal" ones. So the
statistic I am looking for would look something like: "Families of
monster homes will employ an average of X employees which would lead
to greater traffic congestion in the area."
These are two links that might help.

Hello martylee-ga,
I started to research your question but gave up in frustration because
I could find very little that addressed the question of the staff
employed by the owners of monster homes. The objections to these homes
are usually based on other concerns. I think I could help you with
finding what you need if I had a better understanding of how you plan
to use the results of the research. You refer to their "role in urban
sprawl" and also mention that planners are combating them based on
increased neighborhood traffic. I think I could get you what you're
looking for if I had a clearer idea of how you want to use the results
of the research.
I look forward to your clarification.
