Hello ms0~

“The typical American diet is high in sweets, dairy, and wheat, all of
which promote yeast growth,” claims the The American Academy of
Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (“Chinese Medicine For Vaginal Yeast
Infections,” http://www.aaaom.org/HPVAGINAL.htm ) This way of thinking
is common among herbalists, those who study Oriental medicine, and
many other practitioners of “alternative” medicine. Still, when
roaming the web, you’ll find that while many alternative medical sites
talk about the relationship between wheat and and yeast infections,
none of the “major,” more traditional sites do.

Nonetheless, more and more M.D.s and OBGYNs are beginning to advise
their patients suffering from frequent yeast infections to stay away
from wheat products.

Actually, though, wheat appears to be just a portion of the problem.
According to Dr. Robert C. Atkins (famous for touting the Atkins Diet)
and many other physicians and health practitioners, a diet that
eliminates *all* processed carbohydrates (flour, sugar, starch...) and
cheeses makes yeast infections disappear for most women. (The book
“New Diet Revolution” contains an entire chapter on why this is, what
to cut out of your diet, etc. You can find this book in almost any
supermarket, but here’s it’s listing at Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/006001203X/qid=1065906885/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/103-4638847-9990249?v=glance&s=books&n=507846)

Why would wheat and other foods cause yeast infections? Well, yeast
infections are an overgrowth of a fungus called candida, and sugars,
starches, yeast, dairy, wheat, and caffeine are all thought to promote
the growth of candida.

For addition insights, you may want to check out this article in
“Women’s Life” (“Smelly Infections” by H. Perold) for more details:

I hope this helps!
