I want to go on vacation next year ( say April/ May/June)
and my wife and I really like snorkeling. I want to go
to Hawaii or Tahiti (but I'm open to other suggestions)
I'm looking for a 4 or 5 star resort hotel which provides
good value for the money. My busget is around $5000 - $6000
for the both of us, which must include airfare from Philadelphia.
Suggestions?

::off topic:: i have traveled to both those designations and didnt
find the snorkling/scuba near as good as Sharm El Sheik (Red Sea).
With a budget of 5k-6k i think you could get a good deal there. Also,
the wreck diving there is superb

Over the summer, I went to Maui. It was an awesome place to go, and I
really had a wonderful time there.  The resort I stayed at was called
"The Grand Wailea".  The room I stayed in was about $500 per night,
but had a great parking lot, was close to a fantastic restaurant, and
had access to the beach.  It's definitely worth considering, and most
definitely worth going back. I will be going to Italy next year, so
that should be lots of fun.
