Question ID: 265524
I need to find a good domain name for my web design business.

My company is called " Mansei Design ".

How would you pronounce Mansei Design?

...

Man-sye?
or
Mon-say?

...

The correct way is "Mon-Say". You pronounced it Man-sye didnt you? See
that's the problem. Mon-say isn't in the english dictionary, so if
someone asked me for my domain name and I replied "mansei.com" they
would say, "huh???"

BUT mansei.com is taken. I am left with "OnlyMansei.com" *peachy*

Now if you were to hear the web address "www.onlymansei.com" would you
want to go to it? If you did, would you even remember it, not to
mention know how to spell 'Mon-say'.

So I need your help with a new domain name.
I'd like it to be creative, and catchy.

***If the domain name doesnt have anything to do with web design, that's
ok. I mean I'd prefer it, but if it's catchy enough why does it
matter.***

Help me find a really catchy name. Something that sticks.

You can check if there available at www.domain.com

Feel free to view my soon to be public website: www.onlymansei.com to
learn more about my company.

Perhaps if there is a suitable word that starts with " SEI " ...

The Domain Name could be " MAN - SEI ... "?
Tip if you can get that one to work.

willstein...

'ManseiDesign.com' is available, as are .net, .org and .biz.
Any reason you're not using them?

I explained in the post why I didn't want the name "Mansei" in the domain.

Please read the post next time.

I'm a bit confused. If you do not want 'mansei' in the name, what did
you mean when you said "The Domain Name could be ' MAN - SEI ... '?"

Clarification of Question by willstein-ga on 12 Oct 2003 16:04 PDT
I see,

Well what I meant was that since "MAN" is a word, if we could find an
appropiate word that began with "SEI" then we have a domain name with
Mansei sortof hidden between two words.

I have been searching and found no appropiate word that began with
-sei-.

*****ALSO, I might take this time to explain what MANSEI means.
Mansei is a term that I used alot when I was a child. It holds alot of
sentimental value. In English Translation it means "Victory" or,
"Absolute Victory".

Including the word Victory in the domain name might be an option.

**Note:**I don't want any domain names that have 4 (for), 2 (to), U
(you) etc, or dashes ( your-domain )

You could keep the "victory" motif by choosing a domain name such as
victographic.com, victoweb.com, or victowrite.com (all of which are,
according to my sources, available.)

Bingding works for me. The main problem is that if people hear/see it
once, they may think wingding, bingaling or something else similar.

My creative juices aren't flowing, but here are three others that are
available:

niftypages.com
webarrific.com
gainexposure.com

Another option would be to use manseidesign.com, then buy likely
misspellings and have them resolve to the correct site.

How about:

conquestian.com

I like where this is going, but still not just right.
Let's both get our creative caps on and I'll double the question amount.

I disagree strongly about not using the word "mansei" in the name.
"Mansei" is an under-used "word" on the web, which means it will give
you a much higher ranking in the earch engines than some common
monikier like "crazywebDesigns" or whatever. You can brand it.

I'd recommend multiple domain names. They are only $15 per year and
there are advantages to having mansei in your domain name. However,
you could also have a more generic one that is catchy but doesn't have
your company name. I noticed mandesign.com is available... though I
wonder if that would have some connotations that you don't desire.

Well,

From the ones you gave me, nothing is catchy enough, to be able to
spot off hand.

For instance, if on the radio I said "DoubleWebWeb.com". It wouldnt be
catchy enough to sell. BUT toppitytop.com is good, but too many
spelling errors could occur.

I strongly suggest you looking up a word at this site:
http://rhyme.poetry.com/

here is the word "apple":
http://rhyme.poetry.com/r/rhyme.cgi?Word=apple&typeofrhyme=perfect&org1=syl&org2=l&cbr=pc

try there symonyms and similiar words too.

also try this link:

too long, and too strange.

Darn.
You're doing good though ...
Thank you.

Uhm, just a two cents worth here. I studied Korean for a couple of
years, and this word literally means: man - 10,000 and sei - I think
it is "years"

In any case, as a "cheer", it means "victory forever", if I remember
correctly.
But none of that is my two cents worth. I believe it would be more
"correct", if you repeat it three times, rather than just two times,
at your website.

I "invented" a "romanized" form of english pronunciation, based on
American english, because the "international" form of "romanized
Korean" is inadequate, at best, and ridiculous, at worst.
So, the correct, (and exclusive) pronunciation of "mansei" is actually
"mahn-say",
not "mon-say",
since there is more than one way to pronounce "mon", in english. I
call the marker letter "h" a "marker", because there is never a time
that this "ah" occurs, in American english, that is pronounced more
than one way, to my knowledge. Also, there is only one way to
pronounce "say".
It was a long two cents worth, but I enjoyed it. I didn't have time
to read all the above clarifications and comments, but I hope this
helps.
God Bless,

Trueparent-ga,

It is interesting to me that you know of the term Mansei, but even
more interesting of the "3 Mansei Cheer". But even more interesting
that your name is "trueparent". You are very interesting indeed.

10 more, but last time--after this, it'll cost ya.

1. "321HopOn.com" (status = available)

2. Not short, but priceless in its memorability:

"lionsAndtigersAndbearsOmy.com" (status = available)

3. For the adult biz, this next one is a sure winner:

waxxxOnwaxxxOff.com (status = available)

4. This next domain alone is worth more than the price of your
question. I culled it deep from within my secret domain name vault
"Goody Section"--I call it the "Poor-Man's Google Special":

"1withAhundredZeros.com" (status = available) !!!!!!
(Might even find a commercial buyer for that one!)

5. "diveJive.com" (status = available)

6. "mellowYellowFellow.com (status = available)

7. "ULGYuAintGotnoAlibi.com" (status = available)(Not short, but
definitely memorable). Can also substitute "you" for "u".

8. "1968great.com" (status = available)or "68great.com" (status =
available)

9. "1975alive.com" (status = available) or "75alive.com" (status =
available)

10. "2blu4u.com" (status = available)

Let me know and I'll post 10 more as an Answer. If you want, give me a
direciton to lean towards and I'll filter for those (i.e. rhymes with
"don" or x many characters, numbers only, etc).

I'm willing to post a list of 10-15 more domains meeting whatever
requirements you give, which I'll post as an Answer. As to whether you
end up using them or not, that's up to you. If posting 10-15 more
along the lines of any further criteria you set forth would constitute
an Answer let me know. If not, it's not clear what you want. Let me
know.

Thank you, Will Stein, and you are very interesting, yourself. As you
know, there are many who joined the 1st generation. If you put a
"search" in at Google Answers for "trueparent", you will see the
comments I have made, which I must admit, at times are just whimsical.
But seriously, I am "autistically web retarded", and I would like to
create a definite, providentially significant "web presence", with
next to no money to spend. I will be trying to reach you, at your
site, for any info you might share with me. You will know who I am,
because I am a member. I'm really sorry that I could not help you
much, with this name problem, but there must be "a million of um".
How about saymahnsay.com? But that person who said "mansei" is
distinctive, (and copyrightable, may know what they're talking about.
I just don't know.

First of all, you want you domain name (web address), to be the same
as your Business name. the reason is because, if you have a customer
that goes to your site and the web site name is different than you
business name , they see inconsistency, and there can be a mix-up.
Right? Well i did a little research on domain names and the cost, THEY
ARE CHEAP. And also you business name is already creative, i like it
alot, so , you should just have your web site be www.ManseiDesign.com,
and yes it is available. it is catchy, and it is the same as you biz
name, which is what you want!!

If i was an individual that was looking for a design company, the NAME
would mean alot, and Mansei Design sounds VERY professional, and it
will get you alot of business. and if you web site is the same name ,
it keeps that professional and consistent feel !!!! so just go with
www.ManseiDesign.com
