Hi ray_on_the_web,

After researching your question on the success of the Trailer Park
Boys, the conclusion I have reached is that the program appears to be
a very successful one. Living overseas, I have not seen any episodes
of the TV show, therefore I have compiled excerpts to give you an idea
about how successful the program is.

“Peoples Choice Award
This year at the Gemini Awards they are giving out an award for

Showcase Interview with Mike Clattenburg –

“SHOWCASE: Did you ever think that the show would become the success
that it has?

MC: We always knew there would be some people out there who share our
sense of humour, and we'd rock them. We never knew it would catch on
as strongly as it has, though. Robb (Wells, who plays Ricky) and J.P.
(Tremblay, who plays Julian) get swarmed wherever they go. We've had
some very prominent people, rock stars, etc, tell us that they love
the show, which is very heartwarming.”

Season Two Overview
“Building on the success of last season - a season which earned
Trailer Park Boys a Gemini nomination in the Best Ensemble Performance
category - this year starts with Julian (John Paul Tremblay) and Ricky

“Wells, Clattenburg and Tremblay feel the show's success has a lot to
do with the fact that everyone can relate to the characters.
"It's very character-driven," says Wells. "Lots of people know people
like Ricky or Julian or Bubbles and the other characters on the show."
The upcoming season of Trailer Park Boys will be the show's third and
Clattenburg, Wells and Tremblay are already working on writing season
four.”

“Wells, a Cole Harbour native who grew up with Clattenburg and
Tremblay, said the show has gone beyond their wildest dreams in terms
of success.
"It's amazing, people of all ages seem to get something out of it.
It's all very positive feedback," he said.
Clattenburg said someone even posted a clip of Wells buying a package
of cigarettes on Prince Edward Island, taken from a security camera
tape, on the Internet.
"Why anybody would want to see that, I don't know," said Wells,
laughing.”

“Canadians are hooked on Trailer Park Boys, the adult comedy/drama TV
series appearing on Showcase.
The show is funny, shocking and many times pushes the boundaries of
good taste...”
“Actor Mike Smith, who plays Bubbles, took us behind the scenes for a
rare, up close and personal look at this popular series.

Q: The show is a huge hit now going into its fourth season. Are you
having fun?
A: Oh my God yes. It's a ton of work, I'm also writing this season.
It's long days out in the hot sun. It's definitely the best job in the
world. We made the show thinking that it would air once and that would
be it. We are very pleased with the show's success.”

Hi ray_on_the_web,

Unfortunately there is no available information regarding the audience
size. However, I located an opinion network called Rate It All and the
Trailer Park Boys is ranked 2nd for TV Comedy Shows.

"...The series has become a favourite among critics as an example of a
Little Show That Could, with episodes released to DVD and video, but
whether it's anything more than a cult success among a small hardcore
audience is unclear. After all, being a hit show for a cable station
like Showcase doesn't require the sort of numbers it would need if it
was on a major network."

I hope this helps.
