Would a mask that has one hole for both eyes but none for the mouth be
acceptable, assuming it is not made of wool and costs less than $20?

Hi Danmazza,
I have found two balaclava masks like the one you desribe with two eye
holes, but they are not considered "skiing" masks. One is 100% cotton,
under $20, and is sold as Motorcycle Clothing. The other one is a Car
Racing balaclava, and is made from a fire retardant material (no
wool). If you think one of these may be suitable, please let me know.

I stumbled upon this discussion by accident, and hope that I might be
of some help, even though events have moved on a bit.

For dermatological reasons, "danmazza" needed a ski mask / balaclava
which is not made from wool, and which has just two eyeholes. This can
in fact be custom-made from fleece, and the manufacturer who can do it
is Sportees in Canada. Visit www.sportees.com and you will find
balaclavas in their catalogue. They welcome custom designs.

As it happens, Sportees made a number of polartec and Windblocker
fleece balaclavas for me, to the exact two-eyehole design which
"danmazza" would find most comfortable.
