Hmm, these statistics are a bit trickier to find than I thought. I
could find annual scooter sales, but nothing on mopeds for the United
States (I assume they'll be classified under scooters in the US). More
so with the motor conversion kits... these statistics will take some
time to find.

It is a difficult question, probably because there is no clear market
segment involved. "Scooters" are usually larger machines which require
a drivers license, whereas the area I am interested provides motor
assistance without the need for a license. Mopeds and bike conversions
typically use motors of less than 50cc's, keeping them "under the
radar" of the Motor Vehicles codes in most jurisdictions. (and, it
seems, under the radar of the statistics people as well!)
