Hello there,

As my esteemed colleague Bobbie7-ga has already noted, not all
non-profits are required to file a Form 990.

However, there are certainly other sources of information on
non-profit organizations, some of which have been noted below. If you
let us know the type of information you want to know about the
Ephesians Four Group, then perhaps we can track it down from another
source.

I don't know about assets, but I have it on very good authority that
their receipts have been over $100,000 for several years. If the
answer is that they simply haven't filed one, that's ok -- but is
there any way to check that for sure and/or to check directly with
them?

They send out software in exchange for donations and I've heard
concerns about whether that's really charitable or just sales in
disguise. I'm tracking sales versus gift/contribution income for other
charities and would like to see their Form 990 -- if there is one --
since it would reveal this. At the least I'd like to see their annual
receipts.

Hi info990 -

Just to be clear (and fair), did you want Bobbie7 to post her comment
as an answer or me? We're both fine either way. Just let us know.

Thanks,

-K~

Dear info990-ga,

I am copying my comment to the official answer box as per your request.

At the IRS I did a search for Ephesians Four Group

Results:
Organization Name: Ephesians Four Group
City: Escondido, CA
Code: None - A public charity with a 50% deductibility limitation.
IRS

Perhaps the Ephesians Four Group are not required to file the Form
990. Here are the exceptions:

Are there any exceptions to the requirement to file the Form 990?

“Organizations with gross receipts of less than $100,000 and assets of
less than $250,000 at the end of the year may file a Form 990-EZ,
Short Form Return of Organizations Exempt from Income Tax. In
addition, certain governmental and church-affiliated organizations are
not required to file returns. Finally, organizations whose annual
gross receipts are normally less than $25,000 are not required to file
an annual return.”

The following organizations file another return in lieu of the Form 990:

Private foundations (Form 990-PF)
Employee benefit trusts (Form 5500)
Black lung benefit trusts (Form 990-BL)
Religious and apostolic organizations described in Code section 501(d)
(Form 1065).

Hi info 990,

It looks to me like you should just be able to request it directly
from them. IF they were required to file one, then they are required
by law to provide it to the public. That may be a good first step
anyway.

--------------

B. Public Inspection File. [IRC 6104]

1. Application for Exemption (Form 1023 or 1024). The full
application, together with all papers submitted in support and the
determination letter issued by the IRS, must be available for public
inspection.

2. Annual Returns (Forms 990). Annual returns must be made available
for public inspection for 3 years after filing with the IRS.

3. When and How. Inspection files must be maintained at the
organization's principal office and at any other regularly maintained
office having 3 or more employees.

a. Anyone may request a copy of such documents - and only a reasonable
copying charge (and mailing cost, if applicable) can be collected.

b. Written requests must be complied with in 30 days. In person
requests must be satisfied immediately.

This was the first response, and I don't think I'm going to get
exactly what I want, so I'll take it. Thanks!
