Hello spiderlegs,

Dr. Edgar Llinas Alvarez, born in Bogotá, Columbia, a very lettered
man, has led a most interesting life! I am assuming he still is
living, but have found no mention of him after 2001 – not even an
obituary!

Dr. Llinas completed his undergraduate studies and three years of
medical school at
The University of Antioquia, Medellín, Colombia. He also received a
B.S. (History), M.A. (Education), Certificate of Latin American
Studies, Ph.D. (Comparative and International Education), Columbia
University in the City of New York

A short, sketchy biography (no birth date or family information), in
Spanish:

A rather odd English translation of the above site (Only works in
Internet Exlorer, not Netscape)

Llinas did teach at UNAM, (Universidad Nacional Autonoma Mexico), in
Mexico City, then moved to Tucson. I have been unable to tell how
long he was in Tucson, but it appears to be at least 4 years, arriving
in 1994. He is listed as being on the faculty of UNAM again in July,
2000, a professor of Pedagogy, the philosophy of teaching.

Dr. Llinas is NOT listed as faculty or staff for this year at UNAM or
the University Of Arizona.

Llinas attended a conference of LAIR, at the University of Chapel
Hill, NC, in 2001.

An archived web site belonging to Llinas, in 1998. This page is no
longer “live” . It has a long URL (web address), one which was not
able to be made smaller. (Note-Not every link in this archived page
will work. In Internet years, this is an ancient page)

If the above link does not work for you, please click on this link:

“Wayback Machine” box

Here the trail runs cold.
