There was a Calif. lawsuit involving the S. Fco. earthquake fires. It
went up to the Supreme Court. It was called The Dynamite Cases, and I
would like to read it.

Was this case decided by the U.S. Supreme Court? Or by the California
Supreme Court?

There are five US Supreme Court Cases with the words "earthquake"
"fire" "san" and "francisco" in the text.

The 1920 case mentions immigration records lost in the fire - so I've
excluded it. The 1945 and 1967 cases refer to the 1906 fire
historically, so again I've excluded them. That leaves two cases,
neither of which have the word dynamite within the text of the case.
I've listed them below.

No. 230.

Argued October 14 and 17, 1910.
Decided January 3, 1911.

Francisco by the great calamity of earthquake and fire which befell
that city in April, 1906, an extraordinary session of the legislature

I believe it was a U.S.Supreme Ct. case. The facts involved whether or
not the S.Fco. fire dept. had a right to destroy unburned houses in
order to save other unburned houses. I believe the answer was yes,
though I can't be certain.
