I'm looking for a client that would run on my XP and connect to an FTP
account and be used as a backup application with the ability to backup
my important data.

Features:

1. Ability to backup to a local drive quickly and then allow the
application to come up again and then send off the local copy instead
of keeping the main application down during the entire upload session.

2. Ability to detect updated files.

3. Ability to set schedules.

4. It would be nice if it had knowledge on where the important
relevant files were for the popular applications.

Thank you.

I have located BackupOnDemand www.caddais.com and it does look close
enough to be looked at for applicability.

Though, I think I will need to setup a local folder which is actually
an FTP application which would pickup anything backed up to it and
move it to the FTP account as is structured under this local folder.

Would you be satisfied with combining the BackupOnDemand program you
mentioned with WebDrive?

I feel a little bad about giving you such a simple solution when you
have done essentially half the work in answering your own question...

Actually, come to think of it I can easily whip up a perl program that
you could leave running and would every x minutes/hours/days/whatever
update an ftp of your choice with your data.

How about that? Back up on a scheduled basis to another folder with
BackupOnDemand, then run the script, or have the script continously
running in a loop with a delay (i.e. so it waits and doesn't
continously upload)?

Hello Bookface,

Sorry, didn't get notified of your responses! :-)

A script would be nice, but let me think about it and get back to
you.. if I do, it'll be through a question that I post regarding the
same subject. :-)

Thank you!
