Prince Karl was the third son of Frederick Wilhelm III of Prussia, the
younger brother of Frederick Wilhelm IV and Wilhelm I (the first
Kaiser)

I need a biography of this worthy that covers the following aspects :-

- his military career
- his influence in politics
- why he married Marie of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach
- why they had no children (there were none who died ?)
- his role in later life after the establishment of the Empire

Thanks :)

Hello wolvies-ga!

Are you looking for a biography in book form that covers these issues
or are you asking us to compose an essay regarding these points?

Thank you,
Boquinha-ga

I am really looking for a potted biography gleaned from the net (or a
link to a full one if there is one). I see from FP-ga's posts that
there is information of some sort available in German, but I will need
to read it in English. I also note that the genealogical online source
I was using either got it wrong about Karl's children, or simply
ignored them. Is this Friedrich Karl, his son, the war hero who had an
armoured cruiser named after him ? Did HE not have any kids ?

Thanks

A book on Prince Carl, published in 1981 (still available):

Newspaper article (exhibition in 2001):

Carl and Marie had 3 children:

Friedrich Karl had 5 children:

The English version of this page only mentions 4 of them:

Some biographical details (in German) concerning Carl:

The "English version" isn't translated yet:

fp-ga does that site in German provide most of the details I am
looking for ? Besides names and titles I cannot read any German, and
online translators just screw it all up. If the combination of sites
posted by fp-ga answer most of the questions I would accept it as an
answer if someone could translate it into passable English. If not,
let me know how much of what I needed to know is missing - his
military career is of some import to me

http://www.preussen.de/de/geschichte/1797_friedrich_wilhelm_iii./kinder/carl.html

does not mention the details you are searching for:

- although he often received military awards, he didn't show much
interest into his military career

- after 1861 he rarely appeared at the Royal Court of his brother
