In 1975 (I'm not sure of the exact date) I performed live with Chaka
Khan and Rufus on the Mike Douglas Show. Is it possible to get a DVD
or VHS tape of a given show? If so, how much would it cost and who
would I contact? |

Hi Boomerang!
I found the exact date when Chaka Khan and Rufus were on The Mike
Douglas Show in 1975.
The Mike Douglas Show archives are currently being licensed for
professional use in television programs, DVDs, and documentaries.
- $95 per 90-minute episode.
- Fees for licensing of clips will be determined separately on a
case-by-case basis.
Unfortunately it says Professional inquiries only.
Would the name of the person and contact information where you may
make these inquiries be of use to you?
Thanks,
Bobbie7

Thanks Bobbie,
Yes, the date of the show and the name of the person would pretty much
answer my question. Does it sould like to you that for $95 I could buy
a tape of the clip of that performance?

PS -- I am a professional musician, so for my own promotional purposes
I would think that this could be considered a professional inquiry.

Here is what they state on their website:
The Mike Douglas Show archives are currently being licensed for
professional use in television programs, DVDs, and documentaries.
Out of the 4000+ shows Mike hosted, only a small number have been
remastered from the original 2" tapes. The majority of the programs
listed on this website have been remastered, but many more episodes
and guests are available as well.
Screening tapes of already-remastered programs can be provided to
interested parties at a cost of $95 per 90-minute episode. Fees for
licensing of clips will be determined separately on a case-by-case
basis.
If an episode has not been transferred from its 2" master tape, the
cost for a screener is $400 per program, exclusive of licensing
costs.
Boomering, the episode that you are interested is listed; however I
cant guarantee that for $95 you could buy a tape of the clip of that
performance.
It appears that you have to pay an additional licensing fee. My advice
would be for you to call them yourself since fees for licensing of
clips will be determined separately on a case-by-case basis. That way
you will be able to describe how you will use the tapes and they will
charge you accordingly.
Please let me know how to proceed.
Thanks

Hey Bobbie,
I guess just provide me with the date of the show and the name and
phone number/email address of the contact and I'll take it from there.
Thanks for your prompt and excellent response.
