William G. (Billy) Murphy was an early St. Louis sports writer, who
was an original member of the Baseball Writers Association of America.
He was born in Missouri on June 26, 1875. He was the sports editor of
the St. Louis Star, and he died in St. Louis,MO on Jan. 21, 1925. I
am seeking any other solid information on him that I can find.

luciaphile,

My amazing old friend! Soooooo good to hear from you again! I WAS
looking most of all for his date of death, which I've since found from
Missouri Vital Records. He was born in St. Louis,MO and died in St.
Louis, MO on Jan.21, 1925 of acute indigestion, after repeated attacks
of acute indigestion, so said his death certificate.

However, I would like confirmation of his middle initial of G. His
father was named George, so I suspect, but cant't confirm his middle
name. He was also a sports editor of the St. Louis Star newspaper
from 1908-1925, his death. I would like to know what he did from
1895-1908. Those are the 2 pieces of info that I'm still looking for.
You can't believe how great it is to hear from you!! Are you the one
who found Janice Groman's DOB? bluestreak
