Alcohol Dehydrogenase is the enzyme which metabolizes alcohol in our bodies. Certain ethnic groups have higher levels of this enzyme in their bodies than others. What are the 5-10 enthnic groups that have the highest amounts (in order from highest to lowest), and what are the 5-10 ethnic groups with the lowest amounts of alcohol dehydrogenase (lowest to highest)? Essentially, which ethnic groups, empirically stated, hold their liquor best and worst? The Grammaton Cleric *********** Caveat: I apologize for not being able to offer a more reasonable price to my question. $2 is a laughable amount for most questions you Researchers get asked, and it always makes me wonder when customers think that $2 for a true research question is okay...in this case, I am simply hoping one of you will find this interesting enough to answer in your spare time; I'm tight on my budget right now, but I truly appreciate the hours you put into your work. |

The following article summarizes the findings from 17 other papers and presents them in a table by different populations (eg. european, spanish, australian, etcetera). Caveat: Although the data may make for interesting bar talk, ability to "hold your liquor" should not be inferred from this data. "Alcohol dehydrogenase and alcohol dependence variation in genotype-associated risk between populations" http://info.med.yale.edu/genetics/kkidd/414.pdf ---------------------------------------------- Google search string ADH2 "Alcohol Dehydrogenase " genetic variation |
