"Those of you who cannot have an oak tree in your backyard to bring
good luck and insure a long life can at least rely on the Acorn to
capture the oak trees power. For generations, many Britons,
particularly in rural areas carried acorns on their persons in order
to remain perpetually youthful. This belief dates back to the Druids.
The Scandinavians believed that an acorn at the window would keep
lightening away, because Thor, the God of thunder, protected the oak
tree. The acorn has also been associated with the goddess Artemis, the
goddess of nature and fecundity. Who would have imagined such power in
a tiny acorn?"

Legends of Christmas Ornaments

"The Glass Acorn Ornament - Acorns have long been thought to be good
luck symbols in Germany where oak trees are considered sacred. Acorns
are also believed to represent the rebirth of life as witnessed by the
coming of the Christ child. Early German Christmas trees were laden
with cones, cookies and nuts, most notably the acorn, to commemorate
this gift of life and luck. This tradition is celebrated today with
the glass acorn ornament."
I phoned and spoke with the owner who told me, it has a white frosted
bottom (glittered glass) on the bottom and the top is brown glass -
sometimes they come in colors - $3.95. Approximately 3" tall by 1"
diameter. She said it's very natural looking. It is in stock now.
