Hello HP Compaq notebook nx7000 has two 15,4 inch lcd as options: WXGA (1280x800) and WSXGA (1680x1050).Which one is more suitable for non professional users. I have 15 inch LCD with resolution of 1024x768 and I am satisfied with readability and font size, so I think readability at resolution of 1680x1050 could be smaller and not so comfortable.Does anyone have experience with both LCD resolutions. Is there any useful link. Regards Nik |

If you are satisfied with 1024*768, by all means save yourself the cash and get the 1280*800. Personally, I have used both, but for professional uses, I need the 1680*1050. I am a software programmer, the more information that I can get on the screen, the better. But for non professional use, 1280*800 is more than enough. I would break down the tasks like this: 1280*800 - Good for web browsing, email, word processing, games, DVDs, presentation software, popular financial software (Money, Quicken, etc). Since most vendors assume their target resolution to be 1024*768, you'll be covered. 1680*1050 - Any application where you need access to multiple windows at the same time or the window is split up into multiple panes that you need access to at all times. Also, large spreadsheets benefit greatly from high resolution as you don't have to scroll around. Examples include: Excel, Adobe Photoshop, any programming environment, web development. I hope this helps! |

Hi there, Ultimately, the more suitable resolution is the one that *your eyes* are most comfortable with. I use a 17" LCD, and keep my resolution set at 1024x768. 800x600 feels like a waste of screen real estate, and higher than 1024x768 gives me a headache. Be nice to your eyes, keep them comfy! --Missy |
