I need a Japanese curry sauce recipe which tastes similar to Coco Ichiban Curry House's curry sauce in Japan and Hawaii. I've tried many of the prepackaged Japanese curry sauces but they don't have the curry flavor and texture like Coco Ichiban's. |

Hi as a side comment, I do know that some of the more "secret" ingredients in Japanese curry includes either (a) A special brand of chocolate or (b) A special brand of coffee. strange as it may sounds, somehow chocolate and coffee could be mixed into curry to provide it with an extra special flavor (or kicks as some pundits call it). Some cooks swear that if you add a little bit of poppy seeds into the curry mixture you'd get something special as well, but u might not wish to use any poppy material. PS: it is quite unethical to try and steal someone's secret recipe, you might have to do a fair bit of trial and error to get your own preferred mix. The magic in curry cooking is not to copy another person's recipe but to come up with your own heavenly mixture - have fun cooking. regards |

I have been experimenting, but I never tried those ingredients. Thank you for your tips! Yes, I did feel a bit uneasy asking for a copy of the recipe, but if there were a curry house where I live, I would take a visit there instead. The recipe would be just for me and friends, since we all miss their curry. :( |

I think the PS on that comment was a little rude. The asker never asked or even suggested that anyone should try to steal the secret recipe, nor even asked to get the original recipe through legitimate means, he just wanted a recipe which tasted similar. To imply that he was asking someone to do something unethical was uncalled for. |
