Does anybody know of a home insurance company which will insure for
actual present value, not replacement value, or which will insure for
liability only?
It does not make sense to pay a premium we cannot afford in order to
insure furniture which has deteriorated to several thousand dollars
only, for an $ 93,000 which would be the cost of replacing it with new
furniture which we do not need. Also at an age of 75 with no mortgage
and no small children at home, and grandchildren rarely visiting, it
is very unlikely to have a fire. And in the very unlikely event of a
fire we will not rebuild but either move to a rented apartment or to
the children. But I feel that liability insurance we do need.
