I am upgrading some pent-1 133 and 166 computers. I have been haveing
a devil if a time getting the new modems I purchased to work correctly
in these units. I re-read the spec's on the modems in question and it
say's in small print that they need a proc with mmx. how can I fool
these modems into working as if the pent-1 had mmx. These are pci 56k
modems, they go out and connect and handshake but never complete the
connection.
Thanks in advance

The modem might be experiencing a Flow Control problem. Consult the
manual for the supported AT Command Set. There should be a parameter
command for Flow Control using "&Kn", where "n" is a number. Try
altering the Initialization String by adding &K4, which should set
Flow Control to XON/OFF.
