I am in law enforcement for another agency and as luck would have it,
I also happen to be an evidence technician. I handle these types of
issues daily. I can tell you now that how soon you get your property
back depends on a great number of things, not the least of which is
department policy.

Generally speaking the prosecutor CAN wait as long as one year to
bring charges against you and may keep your property as evidence until
that time if necessary. Normally, however, because so much property
comes through a division such as this, efforts are made to release
property that is not instrumental to a case (or in which charges will
not be filed). How soon this occurs can depend laregly upon the
diligence of the evidence intake officers.

I realize it doesn't answer your question but because there are so
many factors involved and so many details about your "case" that we
simply cannot ascertain, ultimatley I think you'll end up having to
contact the Sata Rosa PD and ask them yourself.
