Hi Romanita,

I found one paperback book with the title “The Forbidden Fruit”
published in 1967. The author is Syed Amanuddin. This is a used copy
and it costs US$8.39.

If this is the correct book, just let me know and I will post the
information so that you may order it.

Thanks,
Bobbie7

I should note that the book that bobbie7 found appears to be a
collection of love poems from India (written in English). If that is
the book you remember, I hope that you will allow bobbie7 to post an
answer.

I have found another possibility: "Forbidden Fruit", by Curtis Lucas.
It is a 190 page paperback novel, originally published in 1953,
described as "pulp fiction about a love that crosses the color
barrier", and possibly set in New Jersey.

If this book is the one you are looking for, I can post an answer that
indicates three online stores that offer it for sale (at prices from
$14 to $60), as well as one that offers it in combination with another
book (for $60).

justaskscott and bobbie7:
thanks for your help. The book "Forbidden Fruit" is a "Gay" type
book. If the book bobbie7 found appears to be a collection of love
poems from India (written in English), it's definitely not it. If the
book justaskscott found is predominantly "gay" in nature, then yes,
hopefully, that is the book. Thank you both, Romanita

Hello romanita-ga,

I have found a gay fiction book from 1968 with that title:

"Carter, Floyd.

Forbidden Fruit.
Original Home Library ed ed. 101 36. New York, N.Y: 101 Enterprises,
1968."

"Flounders Gay Fiction Collection"
Stanford University Libraries & Information Resources
http://library.stanford.edu/depts/hasrg/latinam/flounders.html

It is offered for sale at the following store:

"Carter, Floyd - Forbidden Fruit"
abebooks.com
http://dogbert.abebooks.com/abe/BookDetails?bi=228163068

I don't believe that the other two books have a gay theme.
(Incidentally, the book that I had originally found was by Lucas
Curtis; and the "forbidden" aspect was, as I noted, "love across the
color barrier".)
