I have a older (non-MMX)PCI 56k modem, and it wants to connect at 33k rather than 56k 7-8 times out of 10. All other 56k modems in same unit and conditions always connect at 56k. What can be done to force the modem to connect at 56k? If I mark the checkbox on the properties sheet that says "only connect at this speed" it makes no difference. Is there a AT command that may work? Is there a particular IRQ range that would have any effect (it is useing irq-12).There are times when I get a "error 650" and this dialog: ("The computer you're dialing in to does not respond to a network request. Check your server type setting in the properties of the connection. If this problem persists, check with your network administrator."). Thanks in advance, elmojohnson-ga | |

Hi elmojohnson, Here's a neat site for measuring your speed: http://www.numion.com/YourSpeed/ Also, it's possible your modem is on the way out - you can nurse it along for awhile, but it will keep getting slower and harder to make a connection until one day it will be finished. hummer |

Thanks for the input. It turned out to be a bios problem. |
