you pay to do a background check yourself; where you pay to have a
background check done; or where a company advertises its services on
the Web?

If a company, then you mean a company that does background checks for
business clients, or one that does them for individual clients?

Also, are you interested in background checks that occur in a
particular country?

Considering what a background check might cost, it's probably best to
leave it in the hands of people who do investigations for a living,
such as the FBI, IRS, FTC, FCC, etc. So I think I will pass on your
assistance, but thanks anyway.
