I need 3 photos of mountain climbers for a small presentation I am doing. I need a photo of mountain climbers in a whiteout. It would be great if it had some of those poles with flags on them that are used my climbers as breadcrumb trails on big mountains, but it is not 100% needed. I also need a photo of a worm out mountain climber. Someone who looks spent, has a big heavy pack on,been cold for a long time, feels miserable, looks like they lost lots of weight, looks weak, no longer healthy, not to happy at the moment. It is the toll of constant work with no letup that I want to convey. I also one of a rock climber who looks strong, heathly, happy, powerful. He has the good life in the warm sun. It is the strenth offered by short bursts of energy expediture, and then lots of rest that I want to convey. The photos need to be at least 400 x 400 pixels. They need to be free or at lease cheap. They will only be shown once for a group of 10 people. thanks in advnace. |

sherpaj-ga, 1) Heres your whiteout photo, from a Case Western Reserve University website: [ http://www.cwru.edu/affil/ansmet/living/whiteout.jpg ]. Heres the page with the photo in its original context: [http://www.cwru.edu/affil/ansmet/living/whiteout.html ]. Also, heres an alternate whiteout photo with a climber well-placed in the foreground, from Ronald Ross: [ http://www.thistle.org/from_pole/whiteout.jpg ]. Heres the page which has a link to the photo in its original context: [ http://www.thistle.org/from_pole/reports.txt ]. 2) Heres your worn out mountain climber photo, from a Duke University Outing Club website: [ http://www.duke.edu/web/outing/natasha.jpg ]. Note: this climber is female, and I think that this would serve to enhance the diversity of your presentation, in keeping with corporate diversity policies, equal opportunity, etc. Heres the page which has a link to the photo in its original context: [ http://www.duke.edu/web/outing/climbing.html ]. Heres an alternate worn out climber photo, from Aaron Schumans personal webpage: [ http://www.climber.org/TripReports/images/100/101-exhausted.gif ]. Heres the page which has a link to the photo in its original context: [ http://www.climber.org/TripReports/1996/101.html ] 3) Heres your strong, heathly, happy, powerful climber, from Pete Smiths personal website : [ http://www.pete-smith.co.uk/images/muck.gif ]. Heres the page which has a link to the photo in its original context: [ http://www.pete-smith.co.uk/muck.htm ]. Heres an alternate happy, strong climber, from George Maydwell's personal Home Page: [ http://www.collidoscope.com/climbing/lovers.html ]. Note: these images are someone elses property, so you cannot use them for commercial purposes, only for personal, not-for-profit use. Here's one in a white out. It might not fit your needs, though. The climbers' backs are to the camera, and after appropriate cropping, it might be less than 400 x 400. http://www.discovervancouver.com/john/nikki/images/11_W_Ridge_Alpha.jpg |

I saw that one earlier. The problem with it is it is too low res and it isn't whiteout enough. That large rock area gives them a bit to much orientation to be the kind of lost that you typically experience in a whiteout. |

Hi Sherpaj, Here are a number of images. The Stock Solution provides a number of excellent photos that can be licensed for $9. There are no fees for searching and viewing our images, however, there is a fee for licensing and downloading our 300KB, 1.1MB, or 4.5MB images. These are the file sizes most commonly used in the production of digital presentations and printed pieces. 1. Your first "Comp" image is FREE, additional "Comp" images can also be purchased. Online thumbnail previews and online low-resolution images (170KB to 300KB) are FREE for viewing and internal "test" presentations. They may be used for internal preview use and F.P.O (for position only) "comps" for layout presentations only and may not be used for publication. Larger, 576 x 384 pixel (about 650KB) comp images can be licensed for $9. These larger comp images do not have a watermark as do some of our online low-resolution images (the 300KB size). http://www.tssphoto.com/prices.html ========================================================== Here are some images that I found with Google image search. How about this for a worn out climber? http://users.erols.com/dgalbi/dgmc/dgmc3.htm You would likely need to seek copyright permission before proceeding. |

Not sure what's there, but you might want to check <http://www.istockphoto.com/> and see if you can find something appropriate. Images are good yet cheap. ($.50 per download.) There are over 70,000 photos to choose from on all kinds of topics, generally very high resolution. (Disclaimer: I have some photos there for download, but no mountain climbers.) |
