I must point this out from the start - If I am not totally happy with
the answer then I will not release the money - sorry, I know it sounds
harsh but I do not want to waste your valuable time.

I need a list of all (or the vast majority) the UK companies “base
URLS”. There are approx. 2.4million UK companies, I conservatively
estimate there to be approx 500,000 UK companies (LTD and PLC) with a
web presence.

NB: LTD and PLC are the officially registered companies in the UK –
all these companies are registered with UK Companies House –
unfortunately Companies House do not hold there URL information.

I need YOU to deliver me this information in a CSV file. Any takers?

So a web site which has a virtual directory of UK companies separated
by sections does not work?

I mean, a directory divided by automotive, food, etc. industries, and
the companies in each industrie and urlīs to their sites???

A database with that information I would believe is impossible to
find, or had to be constructed manually, which would take more than 30
days!!!

Hello cassonmike-ga,

In exploring a possible answer to your question, I've strick up a bit
of an email correspondence with the keeper of the URL's in the UK, who
has written to me explaining that there are no commercial services
that can supply such a list, however...there might be a way:

"There are not any companies that have such access [to the master URL
file], as this would violate our current policy.  If you would be
willing to share with me what it is that you are trying to do, in
confidence, I will attempt to help further."

So...it seems there is a possibility here, anyway, but they want to
know more about what is you want the list for...I imagine they want to
protect against a massive spam-generating scheme, or some such thing,
but I'm really not sure.

Do you want to explain more about your project (and don't forget,
Google Answers is a public forum).  If so,  I can pass along the
information and see if the list can be generated.

Alternatively, I can post the contact information and some details of
the master file as an answer to your question, and you can follow-up
on your own with my contact person.

Let me know how you would like to proceed on this.

P.S.  By the way, the list I asked for is just the simplest possible
list of URL's, along the lines of:

www.aaa.co.uk
www.abc.co.uk

.
www.zztop.co.uk
