Question ID: 270818
I have a list of approximately 4000 email addresses of my customers in
Outlook. I want to send them each a letter notifying them of a private
sale. I need a SIMPLE TO USE program that can import this list from
Outlook, merge it with my sale invitation and send it out. I realize I
might have to send the emails in smaller batches. THat is not a
problem. Would you please recommend such a program?

Hello -

Important note: if you choose to rate this answer, please ask for any
clarification/information you may require before doing so. Thanks for
your understanding.

I have found three products that seem to do what you require.

Fairlogic Systems makes a $49 shareware software called "WorldCast®,"
and the company's website describes is thusly:

"Fairlogic WorldCast® is a free two-in-one newsletter software: A bulk
emailer and also an email address validator. It's perfect for
individuals or businesses sending out customized e-mail messages to
their customers, newsletters, business notices, internet marketing,
CRM and other essential information. WorldCast accepts an unlimited
number of projects, importing/exporting huge recipient lists (mailing
lists) from dBase tables, text and Comma Separated Values (CSV) files,
as well as address books from Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora,
Netscape Messenger and Palm Desktop, providing easy (and extensive)
mail-merging features, using all fields of the database - Given a
certain emailing list, containing email, name and job, for instance,
the software generates a customized email to each recipient." -> see
more at link

Non-commercial usage is free, but is also slower than the $49 version.

It is available here:

http://www.fairlogic.com

A third company called Execute-It makes a $42.95 program called
GoMail, available here:

http://www.executeit.com

It is described as such:
"[It allows you to] distribute newsletters, product updates, email
marketing campaigns, invoices from within Outlook with GoMail. Compose
email as usual within Outlook and then sent to mailing lists with ease
and efficiency. GoMail comes as a Standard or Server edition. The
Server edition has an in-built mail server so you will not need your
ISP email system. Adds Mass Mailing ability to Microsoft
Outlook2000/2002, fully integrated. Sends to mailing lists in TXT,
HTML, RTF formats. Supports sending of all types of email
attachments. Fast delivery, send 100,000 emails within 5 minutes with
up to 150 threads. Supports delivery to one or multiple SMTP servers."
-> see more at link

Another company called Covatron makes a $95 product called CovaContact
available here:

http://www.covatron.com

Although over twice the price of the others, this company stresses
ease-of-use right up front. The company describes the software as
such:

"CovaContact is an easy-to-use and powerful bulk email software
program for direct email marketing. CovaContact offers, in just one
software application, a complete range of tools for designing,
managing, and sending personalized HTML bulk email to your business
customers... CovaContact includes special features for users of
Microsoft® Outlook and Outlook Express. With these features,
CovaContact turns Outlook and Outlook express into powerful email list
management applications.
If you've ever worked with any sort of automated bulk process, such as
bulk faxing, bulk mailing, or bulk emailing, you've probably
discovered that you are always required to have customer lists of
names, number, addresses, etc. Different processes require lists to
be in different formats and require you to do complex and
time-consuming data manipulation to get your customer together. This
can be very hard. If you use Outlook or Outlook Express, you already
have your customers' names and email addresses. CovaContact can use
names and email addresses right from Outlook and Outlook Express with
no work required on your part. In fact, CovaContact turns Outlook and
Outlook Express into a power and easy to use customer email list
database." -> see more at link

  outlook "bulk email"

Have you ever heard of MailMan, from List.org? They are a great
mailing list program.

You might also want to consider an online service that does this work
for you and gives you dozens of templates to choose from when creating
your format and layout. One I have used with success is www.roving.com

Hi Punty-boy,

In Outlook there is a capability for you to do a mailmerge.
Depending on the outlook version you are using it you can go
mailmerge through an excel spreadsheet, outlook contacts or Personal
Address List. There should be materials within your outlook help docuemnts
to do this and wizards to help you.

However the caveats is that your ISP could have restrictions for you to send
4000 emails at once.

Cheers,DH
