My company (with a staff of about 100, based in London) needs some
assistance from a professional IT trainer to help keep our IT
knowledge up-to-date. We are not large enough to need a full-time
trainer, and ideally would like to come to some arrangement with a
freelance trainer who could come in when necessary, perhaps just for
one day a month on a long-term basis. The main need is for training
on Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ideally,
we would like a flexible arrangement with a view to building up a
long-term personal association, and gradually devising a series of
specific training modules on particular aspects of these programs that
we use frequently.
There are of course a large number of Training Organisations in the
London area, as well as Agencies who are prepared to supply staff.
But most of the Organisations are interested in providing
comprehensive week-long training sessions, covering the material in a
very comprehensive but rather inflexible way. Of course, they are
quite prepared to produce "tailor-made " courses, but once again these
are typically of several days' duration and are incredibly expensive.
The Agencies, not surprisingly, tend to concentrate on supplying staff
who are interested in full-time posts.
Can you suggest some good ways of making contact with the type of freelance
individual who might be interested?
