I found an estimated number of reported deaths in crane accidents at a
certain website, covering only 1999-2002 numbers. As for your number 2
question, I could not find the yearly estimates at this time, though I
found certain articles about crane accidents that mention the costs of
each accident.

1. I'd like to quote the data about crane accident to show the
importance of crane study.

2. I may need to get the "trend" regarding the crane accidents

3. Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) may have some
information.

Hi Thisisjessy,

I found a study about crane related deaths from 1984-1994.

Would this study be helpful for your research?

Thanks,

Bobbie7

The data from 1984-1994 may be not useful for me. I would appreciate
the more recent data.

Hello Thisisjessy,
I believe I have enough information for an answer, and thus, here I
post it.

What I found is that there is one site that is especially dedicated to
crane accidents. It contains many recent statistics, and it does quote
old statistics of OSHA, of the time Bobbie7 mentioned. I believe OSHA
does not release statistics anymore since it lets this website tries
to collect as many cases of crane accidents world wide, so this
website can be trusted. Here it is:

http://craneaccidents.net/basic.htm
Accident Reports Received for 2003: 230 (as of November)
Deaths to date for 2003: 120
Statistics are worldwide.

Crane Accidents.com Statistics
http://craneaccidents.com/stats.htm
Accident Reports Received for year 2002: 171
Deaths to date for 2002: 96 (reported to this site)
Accident Reports Received for year 2001: 161
Deaths to date for 2001:
Accident Reports Received for year 2000: 184
Deaths to date for 2000: 74
Crane related accident reports received by this site for 1999: 110
with 51 deaths
- "More than 500 US construction workers died in crane accidents
between 1984 and 1994, according to a study of Occupational Safety and
Health Administration (OSHA). Antiquated OSHA statistics."

Examples:
I collected examples of accidents that mention the cost incurred by
the accident since I have found no single agency that collects such
data from different sources. I suppose the insurance companies
themselves keep that data, though I have no access to them, since it
would require inquiring from each company. I hope these references I
quote will be helpful.
