Good day signatures-ga,

Far too many documents are notarized in USA each year, and lawyers
cause many of these unnecessary notarizations. One reason for the high
number of notaries in this country — more than 4.2 million — is the
millions of useless
notarizations that are required.

The source of the above statement is from the following document
(Note: You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to read it)

Ten Commandments for Notaries
http://www.notaries.org/library/ten_commandments.pdf
Summary : "As you are aware, our Society is deeply concerned with
providing education and training for the nation’s notaries. We are
constantly finding cases of documents improperly executed by law firm
notaries, or worse, attorney notaries. We wanted to share this
important article in an attempt to educate our members in the proper
use of their notarial authority."

As far as the number of notarized transactions are concerned, no site
provides a definite amount. Most of them put it at millions.

However, when contacted, a particular friend of mine, who is a
medium-sized notary in New Jersey, says that close to 1,500 notarized
transactions took place through his notary.

I hope this was what you were looking for. If you need stats on a
particular state, I can get that for you. If you have a clarification,
feel free to post one. If you're satisfied, then so am I :-)

Have a good day.

Cheers,
aditya2k

Did you know that there is a big push by the National Notary
Association to have even more people become notaries. I actually have
a mobile notary service www.chicagomobilenotary.com I am lucky I am
not in California where there is an oversaturation of notaries.
