I need a 5-page study reviewed concerning MMR vaccine and Autism. I
need to have my use of incident rate ratios reviewed along with the
paper methodology, discussion, and results.
I am unclear as to whether I should be using the term "relative risk"
or some other standard epidemiological term.

I'd be happy to take a look at it, but you'd somehow have to post your
study here, or at least a link to it.

Best wishes,
gwagner-ga

The report is in MS-Word (for Windows XP) format. I could send it as
an attachment to a specified e-mail address. The paper will be
inomprehensible without a look at the 4 figures that are included. How
can this transmittal be accomplished?

Unfortunately, we can't give our email addresses. You'd have to post
the .doc file somewhere on the web and then link to it here.

Have you uploaded the document on your school's web site? If so,
please post the exact URL here. I wasn't able to find it looking
through pearblossomschool.com. That way, I or any of the other
researchers here can take a look at your document and review it.

I have uploaded the document which is an MS Word (for Windows XP) file
to my hosted website domain. Do not know where to go from there. You
could select the link "Contact Us" and I can download the file.

I was able to add a link on the webpage located at
pearblossomschool.com that says "Click here to Download Research". So
now the document can be readily accessed.

Hello Gary,

Nice to see you here again. Thanks to gwagner-ga for making known the
link to your paper.

I've had a look at it, and it certainly seems like something I could
handle, IF I could find the time to handle it...! I'm afraid I have a
busy week ahead of me, so I don't know quite when I could apply myself
to it. But if it's still here untended in mid-week, I'll try to give
it a go.

In the mean time, is there more you can tell us about the "relative
risk" issue you're facing. I didn't see that you used the term in the
paper itself, so I'm not sure just as to what you're referring to, or
what your hesitation is.

Any additional information would be a help, I'm sure, regardless of
which researcher eventually gets you the answer you're looking for.

I have uploaded a more current version. I am unfamiliar with using
the term "relative risk". What I have done in the paper is compared
the prevalence rate ratio in the population of Denmark (by age
category) in the period before and after MMR vaccine. I have
attempted to adjust for greater diagnostic awareness and accomodate a
related increase due to a classification of disease change that
occurred in 1994. I would appreciate it if the reviewer could look at
the quantitative data available and see if the manuscript would
benefit further by the calculation of "odds rato" between those in the
population prior to introduction of MMR vaccination compared to those
after introduction of MMR vaccination. I will supply a (significant!)
bonus if the reviewer can do simple calculations of "statistical
power", "sensitivity", or any other epidemiological that would be
deemed appropriate and valuable to the study. Please however, download
the latest version of the manuscript from the website.

Hello again, Gary.

Well...it was a busier week than I thought! But I can take some time
over the next few days to review and comment on your paper, if you
want. My statistics are way too rusty to try and actually re-work any
of your data. The comments that I could offer would be both editorial
and substantive in nature, but more in the way of suggesting changes
and pointing to needed clarifications, rather than actually
contributing new numbers or analyses.

If that would suit your needs, let me know and I'll get to work. If
not, I certainly understand, and would hope that another researcher
can come forward to help you out on this.

I am actually looking for more of an epidemiological review of the
Methodology and statistical elements in the manuscript.
