What is the most reliable but economic webhosting company? I have been
looking for minimum downtime and still have reasonable monthly traffic
like 5 or 10 GB, without a lot of money. Also I would like Mysql
database php etc. I find tekadvantage.com is good, but their downtime
is 99%, too long for me. I also find totalchoicehosting.com,
however, it seems their loading time is too long, how do you expect
your website will have fast network if your hosting company's website
take long time to load? Please inform if you have any good info.
Thanks

Recently renewed a number of host agreements for my clients, and
having shoveled thru the ads and reviews.
Part of the problem is there are different types of sites, so you need
to seriously review your needs. Hosting service is not expensive
these days, so if you find that it all seems too expensive, you may
need to review your expectations.

If your hosting is for a worldwide operation, with both public and
intra-organizational use, with critical perfomance needs, you may need
to invstigate a dedicated host or co-server arrangement, giving you
the maximum in control.

At the other end is the (usualy) low budget virtual host. IP numbers
may be shared across 200 to 3000 "virtual" servers running on one
drive. With dozens of machines on a rack, and located in a room full
of racks, the volume of these systems is massive, but there are more
problems, and 40,000 people trying to reach the tech support at one
time, after a 10 second outage! Many advertise 99.9% uptime, but these
numbers are hard to track, and is the difference of 99.9 to 99.5 make
a difference to your online "Cookie Store" ???? If you want
unlimited space and unlimited use for 99.9999% uptime, for free, it
just won't happen, at least not in a large volume!

In my case(s) I stayed with several sites on http://powweb.com where
under $8 /month gets 1,000 M space and 60 G transfer (3 G/ Day)
Mysql, Perl, PHP, SSL, Webmail & POP3. There are some other limits om
MySQL use though, so check it out first. There is no official support
for first-timers and otheres needing help starting up , but a user
support board offers a lot of fast good help from other users
worldwide!
Some of there servers have been a bit flakey now and then, but they
seem to be keeping it under control.Much of their problems seem to be
that they try installing the newest versions of PHP, MySQL etc and
then finding the latest problems when 3,000 users find the changes
dont work the same way!
But $7.77/month is cheap for the service.

http://www.1and1.com is running a free promo

but quantify your downtime needs (99.9% uptime is like 5 hours
unscheduled downtime a year). and be skeptical about your hosting
company's website loading too fast -- bigger hosting companies put
their own website on a dedicated server that's always up.

http://www.techstarcomputers.com/packages.php

They offer packages starting at $5/month with no setup fee which
provides you with 100MB, 5gig xfer, 5 Pop3 accts, and SQL, etc with
full control.. it has great uptime and is well maintained and fast.

Have been very happy with 1and1.com with no downtime that i have
noticed yet. Limited time its free for 3 years. If your just look to
host a smaller site then i would recommend this.
http://www.1and1.com

3 years free, cant really go wrong with that. Php, Mysql + alot more :)

godaddy.com is pretty great... 24/7 tech support and cheap accounts.
