Dear pattyl-ga; Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting question. The best place to find out how stuff works is to visit HOWSTUFFWORKS http://home.howstuffworks.com/ As it turns out there is a very interest article geared towards younger viewers that explains in great detail how the simple pendulum clock works. There is a nice section about the various parts (gears, etc), a Q&A sections and classroom experiments wherein a student can create a sort of pendulum clock using everyday materials like books, string and weights. HOW PENDULUM CLOCKS WORK http://home.howstuffworks.com/clock.htm If you want to ultimatley build an actual clock, there are kits you can buy that show the inner workings of the clock and allow you to assemble the gears and construct a fully functional clock: PENDULUM CLOCK KIT http://www.modelworks-int.com/html/pendulum_clock.html I hope you find that my research exceeds your expectations. If you have any questions about my research please post a clarification request prior to rating the answer. Otherwise I welcome your rating and your final comments and I look forward to working with you again in the near future. Thank you for bringing your question to us.
