I used to listen to a wonderful cassette tape called "Songs that won
the war" and have since lost it. I am wondering if you could find a
CD version of it. There are many different CD's with that title, but
i'm specifically looking for the one that I used to have and it is
different from all the others in that it had 2 tracks of winston
churchill speeches, one at the beginning of each side of the tape. If
you could find a place that sells this CD I would greatly appreciate
it. If you cannot find the CD, then i will settle for the tape or the
MP3 of that if it is available somewhere.

Hello Seidleroni,
I searched on the Internet and found the CD sold on Amazon. If what
you have in mind is songs during World War 2, I think this may be it.

Amazon.com: Music: Songs That Won the War [Columbia River]

Tracklist:
1. He's My Guy - Dinah Shore
2. Hip Hip Hooray - Bing Crosby
3. Boys in the Backroom - Marlene Dietrich
4. We're Gonna Make Sure There's Never a War - Al Jolson
5. Bless 'Em All - Bing Crosby
6. Thanks for the Memory - Bob Hope
7. We Did It Before and We Can Do It Again - Robert Merrill

This one also has the same title but a different repertoire (probably
a later volume in the series):

5. Lili Marlene - Lale Andersen
6. You'd Be So Nice to Come Home To - Dinah Shore
7. Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition! - The Glee Club
8. White Cliffs of Dover - Vera Lynn
9. String of Pearls - Glenn Miller & His Orchestra

11. Oh, How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning - Irving Berlin
12. There'll Always Be an England

This compilation actually seems to be part of a series. Let me list

Google Search terms used:
"songs that won the war"

I guess I'll stop the list here, if you use the search terms above
(with the quotation marks), you'll find more sites with the album. You
can see if it is in CD format.

I hope this has been a most helpful answer. If you need anything else,
or have a problem with the answer, do please post a Request for
Clarification and I shall respond as soon as I can. Thank you.

I'm specifically looking for the CD compilation with the Winston
Churchill speeches at the beginning of each side of the tape (and on
the CD if a CD version exists.) I stated this above but it does not
appear to have been looked at.

Apologies if I didn't get it right. If you felt I had the wrong
answer, you could have had me look for the right stuff before rating
the answer. Anyway, let me make up by putting in some more findings:

Amazon.com: Music: V-E Day 50th Anniversary: The Musical Memories of World War II
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000001HIK/qid%3D1001780128/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F0%5F1/103-2471608-8153443
- This compilation has Churchill speeches.

ARTISTdirect Network: Remember Pearl Harbor: Songs That Won the War
2001 Varese Record
http://www.artistdirect.com/store/artist/album/0,,1151800,00.html
- This version started with an FDR speech.

If the tracklist doesn't match what you remember, it's possible the
makers rearranged or renamed the collection since CDs can contain more
tracks than before.

Search string used: "songs that won the war" churchill

I hope that makes up for it a bit.
Reason this answer was rejected by seidleroni-ga:
the reason that I asked this question is because there are a ton of
compilations with the name of "songs that won the war" but i was
specifically looking for one that had 2 short tracks of winston
churchill speeches on the tape (or CD if its available). This tape
meant a lot to me so it was important that it was the same
songs/singers and such. Although i do appreciate the effort the
researcher put into it, the answer just doesnt provide me with the
CD/tape i was looking for.
seidleroni-ga rated this answer:1 out of 5 stars
this is a horrible answer. I know that there are tons of CD
compilations with the same title, but I specifically asked for the one
with the winston churchill tracks on the beginning of each side on the
tape. This was very clear in the above description. Anybody else
know what they're talking about?
